Keawe Adventures is a Hawaiian owned business created in 2008. We aim to provide visitors and locals with a unique experience in a private-like setting. We found a niche in Hawaii’s mass tourism market by providing services based on local hobbies, sports, and leisure activities of Hawaii’s people. We structure each adventure into half and full day tours, which moderates the constraints of time when learning to surf or fish. No matter what adventure you choose, we look forward to sharing our island’s beauty and history.
We offer a variety of services such as fly fishing, surfing, stand up paddling, hiking, Hanauma Bay guided snorkel tours, Sharks Cove guided snorkel tours, and guide services. Whether you are fly fishing or hiring a guide for the day, you will find our services to be in-tuned to native culture and history. The maximum number of people depends on the type of activity. Usually we will take a maximum of 5 individuals and regardless of what adventure you choose, the equipment is always provided. For example, will provide fly rods and flies when fly fishing and surfboards when taking a surf lesson. For our half day and full day adventures, we will provide you with a delicious island-style lunch, also known as a bento, which consists of a combination of rice, fish, and meat. Transportation is complimentary. Morning tours are from 8:00-12:00 and afternoon tours are from 1:00-5:00. Full day tours are from 8:00-4:00. Visit our site at www.keaweadventures.com or call us at 808-780-1253. Remember we are watermen that are lifeguard and CPR certified. So come and enjoy a safe fun filled day with us!!! With Keawe Adventures, you don't visit Hawaii, you live Hawaii.

Makani Christensen, Owner
Born and raised in Hilo, Hawaii’, Makani Christensen has developed the majority of the tours based on how he grew up on the island of Hawaii. Snorkeling, fishing, surfing, hiking, hunting, and camping were common occasions.
After studying at Kamehameha Secondary School, Makani attended the Naval Academy in Annapolis, Maryland. He entered the military as a Marine Officer, where he served his country for 5 years, traveling to both Iraq and Afghanistan. After receiving the Joint Service Commendation medal, Makani was honorably discharged in 2008.
Along with his Bachelor of Science in Oceanography and his strong Hawaiian genealogy, Makani’s love for the land and sea is what inspired him to start his own business—Keawe Adventures. It is here where Makani finds true joy, educating others about Hawaii’s history, culture, and the ocean environment

Keone Downing, Professional Surfer
Born and raised in the water, Keone Downing started surfing at the age of five. Having a father as a legendary waterman, Keone possesses all the key attributes of a big wave rider and great waterman. Keone excelled in canoe paddling, being a five time winner of the Molokai Moe —a grueling 41-mile outrigger canoe race from Molokai to Oahu. Yet it was his surfing that shown brightest. Keone competed in the world amateur championships and on the world professional tour before winning the Quiksilver in Memory of Eddie Aikau in 1990. The prestigious big wave competition requires that conditions at Waimea Bay reach 25 to 35 feet. Now with over 40 years of teaching experience, Keone will teach you the techniques to learn to surf in a safe and fun environment.
