Makapuu Point and Tide Pool Adventure (Half Day)
If you are looking for a hike to reach something magnificent, then this hike is for you! The view from the top is breathtaking. From the summit, you'll be able to see whales breaching the surface during the winter months (November to April) and massive flocks of sea birds during the summer months (June - July). From this vantage point you will also be able to see two off shore islands--Manana "Rabbit Island" and Kaohikaipu "Black Island." If you have high powered binoculars handy, you will also be able to see Hawaiian Monk seals basking in the sun. Looking to the south on a clear day, you will be able to see Molokai, Maui and Lanai.

What makes this tour different?
Most tour companies rely on mass tourism (busloads of people). At Keawe Adventures, we focus on small groups which ables us to give you a personalized experience. We will take you where the locals go andprovide you an experience that will last--if not a lifetime, then for a while. We will show you what we know and teach you about the history of the islands. If we see a bird and we know what it is, we will let you know. If not we willconsult our trusty bird guide book. We don't claim to be experts on allanimals, fauna, and geology, but we are pretty good.
What kind of shape do I have to be in toparticipate on this adventure?
You have to be able to walk on uneven ground, and able to climb 30 degree slope for about 400 feet. Think about it this way,if you get stuck at the bottom of the tide pools, then we will have to call Fire Rescue to extract you. Of course, we will make every attempt to walk out before we call fire rescue.
However, if you just want to walk to Makapu'u Point, then you don't have to be in the best shape. It's a pretty easy, gradual paved walk to and from. Approximately 1.25 miles each way. You can make arrangements with the guides.
Can we go on our own?

Of course! This would be a great family adventure. Just drive towards Makapu'u and Sea Life park via Kalanianaole Highway. You'll pass Hanauma Bay, Sandy Beach, and Hawaii Kai Golf Course onyour left. Once you pass Hawaii Kai Golf Course take your first right into the parking area.
