Come learn the basics of spear fishing. Learn to spear fish safely by following the rules and regulations set by the state of Hawaii.
What will we learn?
Our primary focus is safety. Therefore, we will teach you a few things on land before we enter the water.
Ocean Safety We will discuss the dangers that are associated with the ocean. For example the currents, wind, waves, and marine life.
Spear Handling Safety On the beach, we will teach you how to shoot the three prong spear, how to walk with it and how to swim with it. We treat every spear like a loaded weapon. Therefore, we have established 4 safety rules.
1) Keep your spear tip face down and to the ground when walking.
2) Keep your spear uncocked until you acquire your target.
3) Cock your spear when you are ready to shoot.
4) Do not swim with spear in the fireing position.
Equipment We explain and demonstrate how the equipment works.
Laws In Hawaii, there are a few laws that we need to follow in order to conduct spear fishing safely. These will be explained in detail before entering the ocean.
Spearing Fish We will give you a few suggestions that will allow you to better approach your target.
